Ryley’s Run - 2008 Bicoastal Extravaganza

The stars were aligned and the stage was set for another wonderful Weekend for Rescue on June 7th & 8th.

Ryleys Run 2008 Picture Montage

Albany
Our founding event kicked off On Saturday, June 7th, with hundreds of people in attendance on the Beautiful grounds of State University New York~Albany. There were Vendors galore and volunteers were working hard to get everyone Registered and ready for the start. Hot Air balloons, Gift Tables, Auction Items, and throngs of happy canines made it a sight to behold.

As the crowd of participants passed under the archway designating the starting line, the overall effect was breathtaking and gave us all time To reflect on what an important event Ryley’s Run has become. Each And every person in the event has become Ambassadors for Rescue and are standfast advocates for the multitude of homeless and discarded Dogs.

As the day progressed it became clear that Ryley’s Run is about all of us together helping the unfortunate. All breeds were represented and our motto of "It’s All About The Dogs" was heard over and over again. At the finish line there were quite a few close calls but the overall results are:

Top Dog – Krystal (owner-Bridget Van Zutphen)

First Place Female – Nicki Clopicki

First Place Male – Matt Fryer (Second Straight Year!!)

To all the winners, Ryley’s Run Albany gives you each a big howl of CONGRATULATIONS! While the weather was hot & humid it didn’t effect the overall feeling of joy And giving that permeated the entire event. Donations were made the entire day To the rescue groups chosen to receive the funding they desperately need. After such a wonderful event in Albany, Sacramento had it’s work cut out!! And we’re proud to say they followed suit with a memorable event of their own.

Sacramento
On Sunday, June 8th, over 200 attendees showed up at American River J.C. For The second annual Ryley’s Run Sacramento. New sponsors and vendors were on Hand to lend an air of happiness and concern for rescue. As people were registering the sounds of 60’s & 70’s music played in the background and People were caught dancing away. From mobile groomers to microchipping, if there was something you needed for your dog it seemed to be there. Perhaps the most important sight of the day were the amount of 2007 Ryley’s Run bandanas that were being worn by returning attendees.
So many of our 2007 runners returned to keep their promise of support for rescue and Ryley’s Run it was truly humbling. Veteran runners mingled with new runners and help spread the word of our mission to Keep the subject of canine abuse & abandonment in the forefront of the media.

THANK YOU SACRAMENTO ~ Ryley’s Run is proud of all your work. Please spend some time watching the Ryley’s Run 2008 Montage. It holds Pictures from both events which are much more than pictures. They are Reflections of what people from Coast to Coast can do in the name of rescue. There are millions of Ryley’s out there – it’s up to us to find them safe and loving homes. Each of us have a moral contract to fulfill and spreading the Word of hope & rescue helps meet those terms of that contract.

Rescue Wonder Kids

Rescue Wonder KidsChole Citone, age 10, and her sister, Emiliene, age 71/2, are pictured here with a check for over $100.00 that they raised for Ryley’s Run. They both collected donations from their entire neighborhood, their schools, and anywhere else they could think of. These young Rescue Wonder Kids embody the spirit and the meaning of Rescue in the truest sense of the word. Due to their hard work and devotion there will be warm blankets, good food, and medical care for some dogs that might need it. Our children are the future of Rescue ~ and with Chole & Emiliene on our side it looks like a bright future.

COAST TO COAST - Ryley’s Run Is A Success

3Imagine hundreds and hundreds of wagging tails, smiling people, hot air balloons, dancing dog troupes, Rescue organizations, and pet oriented vendors, and you have a small inkling of the smashing success this years Albany & Sacramento’s Ryley’s Run was like.

Once again communities on the East & West coast came together over the weekend of June 7th and 8th to participate and become a part of the ever growing phenomenon called Ryley’s Run. Dedicated volunteers in New York and California worked hard to present another joyous and fun filled event to help local rescue groups raise funds for the abused and abandoned dogs they have saved. All of the money raised is earmarked for one cause only – To Help The Dogs!!! A full write up of both Runs will be forthcoming on the website, including winners of each category. For now, Ryley’s Run wishes to say

THANK YOU ALL

for volunteering, participating, traveling, and most of all for caring.
