GOLF-4-GOLDENS IS A SUCCESS

1The weather forecast was dire, rain, rain & more rain. And still the golfers showed up at Western Turnpike Golf Course for our 2nd Annual Golf-4-Goldens. Call it luck, destiny, or perhaps help from above, but, the fog blew away and the sun came out and lo’ and behold Ryley’s Run and Golf-4-Goldens was another fantastic event. As the parking lot began to fill the weather cooperated and gave everyone a perfect day to play golf, support rescue, and provide the rescue funds to continue their ongoing mission. Starting on both the Red Nine and the blue Nine everyone teed it up at 9:00am for a Scramble event that had laughter being heard all over the golf course. As the day wore on it was apparent that Rescue was more important than scores as moans and groans from missed putts and wayward drives were overheard. Regardless of their score, the ladies from the Justice Department had to have had the most fun - - laughter, whoops and yells, and overall fun was the mainstay of their day!!!

Another unbelievable dinner was served after the tournament in The Pavillions and as2 everyone ate a very successful 50/50 and Silent Auction was going on. All of the donations from our sponsors raised money for the rescue as the evening went on and there was even a live auction at the same time. Awards were given for best score, worst score (Hmmm—maybe the Justice Dept??), Long Drive for men and women, and closest to the pin men and women. As the activities were going on it was a humbling feeling to see so many people from diverse walks of life all come together for one purpose – To Help The Dogs. No one talked about missed shots, bad scores, or good scores – only about how to help in anyway they could. The heart, soul, and breath of Rescue was in attendance and showed all of us that when we work together under the banner of Rescue anything is possible. As everyone wound their way down the hill after dinner the general feeling can best be explained from an overheard remark: “I wish we could do this everyday until there’s no need to do it anymore”

From your lips to Gods ear we pray.
