PIPELINE TO RESCUE-PAWS ACROSS AMERICA -- BE A PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL

When Ryley’s Run became an ambassador for Rally To Rescue, we knew that in time a real life rally to rescue would eventually happen. That day has come and it is Saturday August 15, 2009. An email came in with a story from the Anchorage Daily News regarding a small rescue in a remote area of Alaska that was in great need of help. Read the article: http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/rural/story/702881.html

Three women have bonded together in Aniak Alaska to do what they can to save dogs lives. They have not had much support. They started Canine Comfort. When Ryley’s Run first heard of the story, the initial response was how can we help? Rally To Rescue came into play. This was a true case if ever there was one of a real rally to rescue.
Several meetings were held to discuss what we could do to help. After a rather horrible 2008, we wanted to tread carefully before we acted and wanted to bounce back and get this right. That being said, once we contacted some sponsors, and some other people, the decision was made to go all out.

And so Ryley’s Run is pleased to announce that on Saturday July 25, there will be a benefit concert held at the Washington Park Lakehouse featuring several bands. Once word was out, people stepped up to the plate to help these wonderful women and their mission. Several companies have jumped on board as well as several major news outlets. Media coverage has been wonderful. So on the 25th there will be live music from 12pm to 6pm. Arts and Crafts vendors will be there, as will pet vendors and several rescue groups.. Refreshments and a live auction will be going on throughout the day. Its hard to believe with the response we have had, that animal abuse and abandonment is as rampant as it is. No one has turned us down and so many more want to help. Also there will be places to make donations such as food, treats, bowls, blankets, towels, wee wee pads and anything else dog related. If people bring a donation in, admission is seven dollars, otherwise it is a ten dollar fee for an all day admission. Hands will be stamped on entry. Pipeline to Rescue-Paws Across America is what we are calling this major event. What better case is there for a rally to rescue than someone from New York reaching out to the last frontier( the final frontier is Space) in Alaska.

The women are shocked that we contacted them but Kathy Sweeney, Susan Luchsinger, and Bev LaMaster are so excited and so appreciative that they were speechless. Rally To Rescue has contacted them as well and hopefully with all the exposure, they will get the help and support they truly need and deserve for the job they are doing. Special thanks goes out to Debra McKinney from the Anchorage Daily News because had it not been for her article, this event would have never come into play. We are all in this for the same reason. We all hope to see the end , someday of animal abuse and abandonment.

The Pipeline to Rescue event is “ALL ABOUT THE DOGS” as is the Ryley’s Run motto. However, it is also about helping some wonderful hard working women who are in such a remote area that you can only get to them by plane or boat and they will not give up. We believe in them. So, if your in the area on Saturday July 25th, come by the Washington Park Lakehouse and enjoy the music, the food, and the vendors while supporting a very good and very noble cause. Look into the eyes of your dog tonight. Look into those eyes and see the unconditional love they give to you just in their eyes. Lets see if we can get that same look out of some of the dogs in need up in Alaska instead of that look of desperation or the look of just giving up. They all deserve that chance to be loved so lets get them on their way to a second chance at a wonderful life and they will know what love truly is. Someone once said, we have a moral obligation. We do so lets show these folks up in Alaska that the lower 48 know how to step up to the plate, and hit the ball out of the park. Be a part of something extraordinary on July 25th.
